E through K

Margie (Enriquez) Martinez

We met up with Margie at the 2002 reunion in Fort Lauderdale.  She’s living in Miami and is a partner in a plant service business renting and maintaining plants in office buildings.  She also let us know she’s going to be a grandmother very soon!

9/23/02 Update from Tami – Margie is already a grandmother with a second on the way!

William Gay     airbusguy2000@hotmail.com

Bill phoned me a month or two ago to let me know he had moved back to the Houston area.

Update 9/14/02:  Hey David, how art thou?  Here in Houston everything is fine. Still a little lonely but that's part of it I guess, I've been driving my truck over 300 miles per day in this crazy city which I call Caipirolandia; man this looks like SP traffic…  Hope to hear from you soon.  Sincerely yours, Bill   PS - Fantastica job on our web site...

Alfredo Glik     alfredo@empax.com.br

Last sighting of Alfredo was by Kirk Meyer, who reports:  Alfredo is President of EMPAX, family-owned packaging business but more importantly has the distributor’s rights to Martin Guitars here in Brasil. Owns a store in the music instrument district and also plays very well, currently with a excellent band called “55”.  We’re told he’s in the advanced stages of hair depletion – nooooo!!!!

July 2003:  Hi everyone.  I missed the 2003 reunion which was unfortunate but I know it was great.  It is amazing that after all this years we can still be friends!  I still get to see some of our friends quite often.  The Graded years I will never forget and even today I speak very fondly of some of the best times I have had.

An update on my life would be that I have been married to Rossana for 13 years and have 6 year old twins named Sabrina and Stefany.  I mainly work in the family packaging business.  I also distribute in
Brazil Martin acoustic guitars as well as Dean Markley guitar strings.  After I graduated I took interest in playing the electric guitar.  I still enjoy surfing and 2 years ago I went with some friends to Indonesia were we rented a 80ft yacht and spent 8 days searching for waves.

It is good to hear from everybody so lets keep in touch.

Um super beijo para todos - Alfredo

Oi David! I was thrilled to get your e-mail via many different routes. I'm excited about the Class of '78 Website - what a great idea. I'm certain that Tom has also received the same e-mail. (I do remember Tom's repercussions about the fire in your garage! For all of our safety, I'm glad he didn't turn out to be a fire-fighter!).  A brief history of what I've been doing since college - I'm married to Scott Garrett (an engineer) and we have twin daughters, Paige and Leigh who are soon to be eight. I teach at a middle school in San Diego. Unfortunately I have lost contact with a lot of Graded people. I do still keep in touch with Sarah Derr, Tami Harris and Sarah Oden. If you happen to have Beth Lindsay or Lorna Oglive's address please sent it to me. I'd really appreciate it!  I hope you and your family are well. I'd be interested to hear what you have been doing since the Graded years. "Talk" to you later. Tchau, Libby Henderson Garrett

I keep in touch with Pancho Keating, Rob Botsford on a regular basis.  It's all fairly mundane and boring banking and finance training related stuff. Nothing as exciting as drug running, smuggling and prostitution. All kidding aside, I will send some stuff within the next couple of weeks. The suit and tie is unfortunately part of the gig although I'm hoping that this casual attire trend will catch on soon.  Look forward to hearing from you. Do you wanta burn down any more garages????:)

Bill Herbert     bherbert@simmonsco-intl.com

David - congratulations on an inspired idea. My brother Daniel forwarded the URL and I’ve had great fun trolling through the archives of our classmates. My brief history is as follows. Graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (1982) and I then received an MBA from the JL Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in 1987. My career has taken me down the Wall Street path of investment banking and securities analysis. I now reside in Houston where I work for Simmons & Company International specializing in energy investment banking. I'm married to Lynn Herbert (15 years!), who is a curator at the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston, and we and have two boys, Ian and Henry. Sadly, my visits to Brazil are infrequent at best, despite engaging in too much travel. I hope life finds you well - All the best.  (note the picture – captured from your website Bill, hehe…)

Matt Kenny     mkenny3@aol.com

Hello David! Learned of the Website through Bill Lennon who is still at Tulane. Jack Ferris and I still get together. He's been teaching in Kuwait City for 10 years. He visited with the Lukert twins back in June. They're in Washington (State). I'll see if I can get Email address's. I left teaching in 1986 after having taught in Tunis Tunisia, Caracas Venezuela, and B.A. Argentina. My daughter was born in B.A. and will be 15 on Sept. 28. I have a second daughter who is 11. I met my wife in Tunis. She, like myself, is from New Jersey. We live in Waldwick NJ where she teaches 2nd Grade and I work for a health insurance company. I, like my kids are very active. We all play soccer and are avid skiers. I took up swimming to stay in shape and have gone back to my roots in the sport of lacrosse as a referee. All is well and I look forward to contacting some of the Class of 78. Thanks for spearheading this project.

Phil Beaham was in Japan (at least he was a few years ago), working as a translator. I can't find his email address at the moment, but I'll send it along if I do. Jim Ott is a school district psychologist in Dubuque, IA...no working email address that I have.  Regards, Jeff

The email address you have still works, but my updated address is Jeffrey.Kenyon@qwest.com.  Since 1978, I picked up a few degrees from the University of Pittsburgh (B.A., English, 1981; M.S., Information Science, 1988), lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ivrea (Italy), and have been living in Boulder, Colorado since 1990. I married Phyllis Oswald, who I met at Graded when I was in 6th grade; we'll be celebrating our 19th anniversary next week, and we have three children.  Professionally, I'm a computer geek (mostly Java and web services these days). I haven't been back to Brasil since June of 1978, but given the amount of Brasilian music I listen to, I think I miss it a lot.  Regards    Jeff

Thanks for making such an exquisite web site so we can keep in touch.  I am doing quite well, living in Hawaii, and teaching sixth grade.  I have been divorced for several years.  I am the proud parent of a beautiful six year old boy (I started a little late).  I have my Masters Degree in Administration and Curriculum Development.  Imagine me being a principal. I have taken my boy traveling all around the world by myself.  We have been to Samoa, Thailand, all over Europe, and just got back from New Zealand.  We usually make it to the "mainland, U.S. a couple times a year.  Please keep in touch.  aloha,  Jo mama
